I’d like to tell you a little about the NetEd approach to technology and learning

Events and Environment

Our development process is driven by a focus on the two E’s of Learning: Events and Environment. These integrate to form your organization’s knowledge foundation, the driver of your innovation and your competitive edge.

Events are the processes supporting your team’s acquisition of new knowledge and skills. They can be formal training developed to train procedures or principles. These take the form of modules, videos, simulations, or other closed ended learning scoops with a definite end in mind. They also assume the role of either supplementing a blended learning course( supporting a classroom instructor) or deliver the payload themselves. Informal training allows the learner to take the role of trainer in assisting peers and fostering an environment with the purpose of driving the organization’s innovation.

Environment consists of both delivery and collaboration facilitation mechanisms. The delivery function gets your formal learning to the learners. LCMSs is one example of this. Not all formal learning depends on the LCMS, but many times, when the organization needs to evaluate the learner, it is necessary.

The approach to creating each of these is briefly explained below.

  1. Seen 18/12. I like this track. Our focus is to keep everything in laymens language. Other headings might include Testing, Courses: i) on-line ii) in class … and so on. Think of waht people might want to do and we will sell the service.

    • Simon,
Thanks for the feedback, and I like this style of commenting directly on the page. Testing is your specialty, so could you add something to the page regarding that? I do think that testing is important. Like I said on the phone, testing is the point where “teaching” and “training”, converge. Basically, what is the end result of the time and effort spent by the learner? Training, its on the job, teaching it could be in many forms.

I think on the 26th, we should try some of our theory out on a real course. I’d like to work to make it a demo, and I’d like to set it up as a real project. I’d also like to make a deadline. I know your heading to Thailand soon, but, deadlines make things real, no deadlines, and things can wait for indefinitely, which, takes the pace out of things.

I’m anxious to get something off the ground with neted…I think the site you have here, with a little polish, could give us a push.

      • My name is Mr Owner of company Important and I am a very experienced Ozy bloke who nobody fucks with! I was an associate of Tong Graham (fuckin top bloke) 10 years ago when we worked for the Australian government together making government courses for fuck-ups of society. We were the best the gov had and never got the praise we deserved. Now there is a different gov so we are all privateers now and raking in millions; doing everything old school. I asked TG which firm put his first AWDTS courses on-line, since he was bragging that not only has he got a fantastic new site, but also he was able to register his own training courses on-line, save himself $150,000 a year in training fees, and boldly predict 1000 hits in sold courses in the first six months, with existing and new clients. And the fact that this old dog has been taught new tricks is bloody narly! So I asked TG who did he go through to do all this and what was the process like? …and TG answered. “Well i went with Dougs son and his blokes and its wasn’t what I had to go through, it is more what I didn’t have have to go through.

        I didn’t
        - have to learn anything else about education for myself (thank god!!) nor my trainers (myself and or trainers earn $150,000 to $200,000 a year training)
        - have to understand what an LMS is (still don’t)
        - have to worry about the finer details for going paper to on-line (something was recommended, I cleared it, and then it happened overnight)
        - have to make a decision on something I couldn’t understand (even after it was explained several times) it was simply decided for me; through action not words!
        - have to once call them and ask what to do next (I was always told what I had to do next)
        - have to cancel one hour or day from my fucked up busy schedule, they were always available at my most convenient time
        - have to think about anything, because the firm is totally professional and they always advised me one step at a time
        - have to take on the headache of any usual shift in business procedures
        - have to care about going on-line as everything was simply explained to my staff with handy training (with video conferencing online with me and my staf)
        - have to cancel the fam holiday at the beach house this Christmas, thank christ for that!!

        • Simon,
I’ve got to confirm, are we designing the sales page for the general public or the upcoming project in particular. When we spoke the other day, I got the impression we were going for the general public…that is the approach I have taken thus far.
